Adverse and unfamiliar circumstances of this pandemic can have a traumatic impact on your health, and it never helps to have your boss, teachers, parents, family, friends, or anyone for that to be piling up on you in such times of trouble. Having hundreds of assignments, strict deadlines, an angry boss and a huge workload contributes to the commonly crippling mental health. Stress is a feeling of tension that can come from anything that makes you angry, frustrated, worried, or anxious; it is how your body reacts to challenges and tasks. It can be a frightening feeling at times, and it is a contributor to numerous health problems including high blood pressure, anxiety, a weakened immune system, high blood sugar, etc. Stress can come from anything that makes you angry, frustrated, worried, or anxious, it is important to manage your stress to prevent the worsening of various health problems.

Stress can be elucidated with the two types of stress, including acute and chronic stress. Acute stress is defined as short-term stress, this type of stress helps you immediately react to challenging situations. However, chronic stress lasts for a long period of time, this is the kind of stress that holds you back and limits your success; if you don’t manage stress, it’ll come back to haunt you, your mental health and physical health. Your body has different ways of reacting and responding to stress making your body more alert, in the short term, this alertness may be beneficial. In the context of chronic stress, this constant alertness makes you more susceptible to health problems including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, skin problems (eczema, acne, skin rashes, etc.), anxiety, migraines, etc.

There are numerous ways to prevent this negative impact on your health and to manage this unfavorable feeling, inclusive of:

- Taking deep breaths; no matter how cliché this sounds, deep breaths can tame and calm your physiological response

- Write a Reflection in a journal; despite your busy schedule, take some time out, even just 2 minutes, for yourself to reflect. This allows you to process the situation and look back to recognize how you reacted to your stress.

- Organize your time productively; by using a planner or setting aside times for particular things, you can prevent possible stress and manage your challenges/tasks better and more efficiently.

- Take a walk or exercise; whether it’s for two minutes or 2 hours, by doing some kind of physical activity it enlarges the presence of hormones (dopamine, adrenaline, endorphins, and endocannabinoid) most commonly associated with happiness, confidence and feeling less anxiety or stress.

- Listening to music; according to sources and responses from our Instagram page, many people shared how listening to music helps them to regulate and feel more in control of their emotions. Music is said to help you relax yourself making it greatly effective for stress management.
